In addition to its fundraising efforts, the AANA Foundation is the champion of anesthesia research, supporting those who conduct and promote research which advances the science of anesthesia.
Send an electronic research survey to AANA’s members.
The American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) will consider requests to manage e-mail surveys for individuals interested in collecting data from AANA members. E-mail addresses are not given to any researcher and are held by the AANA. The AANA must approve the process and the content of the survey to be considered for this service. AANA reserves the right to refuse fulfillment of any request. At no time will the researcher have access to AANA members’ e-mail addresses.
For more information and order form, go to AANA Research Survey.

As the healthcare environment changes, concerns have arisen regarding anesthesia patient safety. The AANA Foundation recognizes the need to conduct research examining adverse outcomes of anesthesia care provided by CRNAs. St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company, the largest single insurance carrier for CRNAs, participated in the project and allowed a research team of eight CRNAs to collect information from their closed claims files. This study is designed to analyze adverse outcomes using information contained in closed claim files.
The Closed Claim Team Members are:
- Lorraine M. Jordan, CRNA, PhD, Facilitator
- Karen Crawforth, CRNA, PhD
- Mary Ann Golinski, CRNA, PhD
- Michael Kremer, CRNA, DNSc
- Sandra Larson, CRNA, PhD
