Healthcare facility administrators can now verify CRNA certification and recertification online. To verify credentials, please choose Verify Certification or Verify Recertification in the navigation bar to the left.
Credentialing Verifications Are Now Available Online
The Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists and the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists have designated the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists website as a display agent* for their information. All information provided on the credentialing section of the website is taken directly from the Council databases and is updated at midnight each night.
Initial certification information is updated at midnight 48 hours following acknowledgement of delivery of written notification to the candidate. For example, if a candidate receives written notification on Friday, certification information for that individual will appear on the website on Monday.
You can verify the following information for CRNAs:
date of initial certification
name of the nurse anesthesia educational program completed
recertification dates
You will need the last four digits of the CRNA's Social Security Number and the CRNA's AANA number. If you do not have both of these numbers, please contact the CRNA directly.
*See the JCAHO January 2003 Perspectives article on the use of display agents.
Telephone, mail and fax verifications are no longer available. The Council on Certification and the Council on Recertification will continue to complete, at no charge, any required state board of nursing forms that are provided to the Council office by the CRNA for submission. However, if the CRNA is requesting that a transcript be sent along with a form to the state board of nursing, a written request must be submitted to the CCNA along with a check for $50 made payable to the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists. Mail to: Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists, 222 S. Prospect Avenue, Park Ridge, IL 60068.
