The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA)
The COA is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The COA adopts standards, guidelines, and criteria for accreditation of nurse anesthesia programs; accredits nurse anesthesia educational programs; and provides consultation and guidance for initiating new programs and improving established programs. The COA publishes newsletters, conducts workshops on accreditation, and conducts surveys and maintains a database of information about nurse anesthesia educational programs and faculty. National Board on Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
The National Board on Certification and Recertification (NBCRNA) of Nurse Anesthetists is a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the state of Illinois. The NBCRNA's two councils -- the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists (CCNA) and the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (COR) -- carry out the credentialing activities of the NBCRNA. The mission of the NBCRNA is to offer certification and recertification programs that are tailored to specific professional standards of nurse anesthesia practice and promote patient safety.
